Bronze, silver and gold for Girlguiding Long Eaton

Nine members of 1st long Eaton Guides and Khelone Rangers were amongst 25 members of Girlguiding Derbyshire who were presented with their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award at a county celebration evening. The award has four sections.

They volunteered for up to 12 months, giving their time to support local Rainbows and Brownies, football and swimming clubs. They made progress in skills ranging from playing musical instruments, to gardening, drama, dance and learning to drive. They set and reached personal targets in swimming, archery, canoeing, football and tennis. Finally, they trained for, planned and completed 2 expeditions in unknown countryside, either on foot or by canoe, carrying all of their camping equipment, food and clothing.

Katie Tew, Sonali Dave, Sophie McKeown, Sophie Robbins and Molly McCarthy gained their bronze awards. Molly Watling, Emily Rogerson and Rachel Cooper gained their silver awards. Helen Stafford gained her gold award, which she will collect from St James’ Palace.
